One of the Important Events in My Life

“Halim, join us here! “ My friend, Shafiq shouted to me. Then, he kicked a ball to me. During that sunny evening, under a very hot sun with temperature 32 degree Celsius, I played football with my friends. As a boy that only 12 years old, I was never thought too much about studies or what going to happen with my future. All I know were playing, sleeping and eating.

In school, I always played around and only became “good” when my fierce teacher, Mr Ajen, came in. One day, suddenly he came to me and pulled my right ear. It was very hurt. Then, he said to me like this,” Halim, you played with your friends too much. Don’t you ever think about your studies? If you keep on like this, you will end up as a labourer and only cycling a bicycle for the rest of your life!”

The words that came up from him really made me shocked. But I’m just silent. When I went home, I got my second lecture from my father as well. The things that he mentioned were actually the same as what Mr. Ajen told me before. Before I went to sleep that night, I thought about what I had heard for the whole day. It made me realised that my studies and my future were very important. From day onwards, I determined to change my behaviour to someone that works hard for the studies and for the better future.

Finally, during the middle of October 2005, the UPSR’s results came up. I was very shocked because I got 3As 2Bs for it! I was so happy and grateful because my efforts all these moment replaced with a good result like this. My family especially my parents were the most happy person to hear it, indeed. I felt very satisfied and from that moment, I promised to myself that I will work harder for my future and my studies.
